Described herself as ‘melancholic folk blues’, Rachael Myall’s debut EP Science is a gorgeous blend of raw acoustic guitars and sharp storytelling reminiscent of a lot of Dolly Parton’s work.
It opens with title track ‘Science’, which explores the concept of ‘chemistry’ as a science and as a term for love. ‘Two Sides of Me’ meanwhile is a look into the strains of hardships tackled in a relationship, whilst ‘Horses’ is about standing up and supporting your partner to the accompaniment of some sauntering snare rolls.
Love is the clear dominating theme, an age-old topic that Racheal is able to spin a fresh perspective on. The singer-songwriter truly proves her talents and has a promising future ahead of her.
